About
An independent Canadian software studio
Why focused software
We are interested in the specific, repeatable task that a person does over and over — not the all-in-one suite that promises to replace ten tools and does none of them well. A narrow product is easier to understand, easier to trust, and easier to walk away from if it stops being useful.
That constraint also keeps us honest. If a problem is not sharp enough to describe in a sentence, it is probably not ready to be built.
Validation first
Before writing production code, we talk to the people who live with a problem, watch how they work around it today, and try to measure how often it actually bites. Many ideas do not survive that step, and that is the point — a clear no on paper is far cheaper than a product that ships to an audience that was never really there.
How we work
Observe
Understand what people actually do today.
Validate
Determine whether the pain is frequent and costly enough to matter.
Prototype
Test the smallest useful workflow.
Measure
Look for real behaviour, usage, and evidence of value.
Build
Invest materially only when evidence supports development.
Operating principles
Narrow scope
Each product solves one clearly defined problem. We would rather do less and do it well than ship a platform nobody asked for.
Evidence over enthusiasm
A promising idea is a starting point, not a decision. We look for repeated, costly friction and real willingness to change before committing.
Privacy-conscious by default
We ask for the least information needed, are explicit about how it is used, and keep research contact separate from any marketing.
Modest claims
We describe what Fieldstone actually is: small, independent, and early. No inflated metrics, and no customers we do not have.

Jessie Viray
Founder, Fieldstone Digital
Fieldstone Digital was founded by Jessie Viray with a focus on identifying practical, recurring problems and building focused software to solve them.
The studio takes a validation-first approach: understand how people work today, determine whether a problem is frequent and meaningful, then invest in the simplest useful solution. Fieldstone explores practical software opportunities across business and everyday digital workflows rather than limiting itself to a single industry or product category.
